Position Summary
As a key member of the EHS staff, The Associate EHS Engineer will coordinate and manage EHS programs and serve as the Sustainability Program Lead. This position supports day-to-day operations of all functions and groups on site. The primary emphasis is on environmental, health, and safety management, as well as colleague safety and risk assessment. In addition, this position provides technical support and leads programs that assure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and Zoetis corporate standards. This position will lead EHS sustainability efforts including data management and projects to increase recycling and reduce waste.
Hours: 1st shift 8:00am – 5:00pm.
Position Responsibilities
- Provides leadership, training, and operational support to the manufacturing support and functional groups.
- Initiates, leads, and implements EHS improvement projects. Participates in EHS risk assessment and inspection processes.
- Supports people leaders to complete incident investigations and root cause analysis related to EHS related incidents.
- Analyzes and prepares documentation, presentations, and reports. Maintains permit recordkeeping and reporting requirements.
- Applies standardized safety and industrial hygiene concepts to monitor and evaluate potential workplace exposure hazards and recommends appropriate controls.
- Manages EHS programs, such as regulated waste, air emissions, wastewater effluent and SPCC. Facilitates and/or participates on various site committees and teams, such as Energy Conservation and Spill/Emergency Management.
- Develops and effectively delivers EHS related training.
- Participates in the site emergency response process.
- Completes incident investigations and appropriate notifications, as required.
- Participates in the GMS Energy Community of Practice (COP).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, Environmental Sciences, or Engineering.
Technical Skills and Competencies Required
- Demonstrates high performance and strong oral and written communication skills.
- Strong technical knowledge and resolves environmental, worker health, and safety issues.
- Knowledge of federal and state hazardous waste regulations and wastewater requirements.
- Can identify, analyze, and solve complex EHS technical problems in consultation with a supervisor.
- Investigates and solves problems using advanced environmental and safety engineering techniques. Supports teams form other functions to analyze and solve problems.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and collaborate effectively.
Physical Position Requirements
- Ability to lift 35 pounds.
