Company: Cobb
Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, including holidays until job is complete. Typically, these positions average 40 hours a week.
Hours: Beginning 2:00pm until 10:00pm or until job is complete. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
- This position is responsible for the sanitation/cleaning of the hatchery: sanitizing hatchers, setters, trays, racks, buggies, and all other hatchery equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize hatchers and setters. (50%)
- Clean and sanitize all hatchery equipment, and Chick Room using a high pressure and regular water hose. (30%)
- Monitor and record temperatures in the hatchers and setters. (5%)
- Maintain foot pans and hand sanitizers, operate macerator, operate tray washer, tray, and set eggs, pull chicks, operate chick counter, set up Sexor counters, pack, or unpack eggs, pad chick boxes, help drivers with the loading and unloading of egg/chick trucks, and maintain a clean an organized work area. (15%)
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. The Company provides appropriate clothing and footwear. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must be able to life/move 50 lbs. and must be able to push/pull 500-1000 lbs. Overhead lifting is required. Required to work on wet and slippery surfaces each day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Tools and Equipment: High Pressure hose
- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and in hot, dry, dusty, wet, and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, Safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals. Ear plugs and earmuffs will be used as needed.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and Virocid.
- Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
